Discovery Bay: 50 Year Old Man Found Unconscious in the Delta, Later Pronounced Deceased

On Friday at about 5:24 PM, the Marine Services Unit was dispatched to a report of an unconscious and injured person in the water in the area of Indian Slough near the Discovery Bay main channel.

The victim was taken to the Discovery Bay marina, where he was met by medical personnel. He was taken to John Muir Medical Center by helicopter. He was pronounced deceased several hours later. He is being identified as 50-year-old Jonathan Bloom of Discovery Bay.

Deputy Sheriffs from the Marine Services Unit recovered the victim’s boat. Pictures of the vessel are attached. An investigation is underway to determine how he ended up outside his vessel and how he was injured.
