DeSaulnier: By The Numbers, Trumpcare Dissected by CBO

by ECT

Yesterdays score released by the widely respected, non-partisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) details the cost and health coverage estimates associated with the Republican effort to repeal the Affordable Care Act.

We wanted to share with you some of the statistics included in the CBO report which you may find useful. Facts should influence lawmakers to find the best policy solutions. As the health care debate continues to unfold, I am reminded of a quote by the late Senator Daniel Moynihan: “Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but not their own facts.”

Congressional Budget Office Report:

  • By 2018, 14 million Americans would lose health insurance coverage under the Republican’s effort to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act (ACA).
  • Up to 24 million Americans would lose health insurance coverage by 2026.
  • By 2020, 52 million people would be uninsured. Under the ACA, that number would be 28 million.
  • Over the next two years, premiums for people who have health insurance not covered by their employer would increase by up to 20 percent.
  • Between 2017 and 2026, CBO estimates there will be $880 billion of cuts to Medicaid, adversely impacting middle to lower income families and seniors who rely upon government funding to afford health coverage.
  • Medicaid spending by the federal government would decrease by 25 percent by 2026.
  • Enrollment in Medicaid will be reduced by 14 million people by 2026.
  • Included in this plan are $592 billion of tax credits for the wealthy, as opposed to $361 billion in tax credits to help middle class and working class families afford health care.
  • The Republican plan would cut $170 billion from the Medicare Trust Fund, shortening the life of Medicare by 3 years.

Hey Mark:

Where were your concerns and trepidation when you Democrats, Obama, and the architect of his health plan stated “we can sell this legislation to the American people because they are stupid enough to believe whatever we tell them.”

Even more outrageous is the leader of the idiotic Congressional Democratic Party, Nancy Pelosi, told your membership “let’s pass the bill first and we can find out what’s in it later.” Dems are such fools that you kept Pelosi as your leader. For goodness sake the woman went on television a month ago blaming Bush for the travel ban! She’s so senile that she has no idea Donald Trump is OUR President! ?

At least the Republicans are allowing everyone to know what’s in the bill and are seeking opinions and revisions BEFORE it’s enacted. That’s the difference! They are taking the heat now from ALL sides and this will allow them to make the necessary changes before finalizing it.

Get a clue DeSaulnier. Suck it up buttercup and face the fact that YOU and your moronic Democratic Party members are hypocrites and are still whining because Hillary lost.

Healthcare is a human right Gary, whether you’re republican or democrat or whatever -ism you hold onto. Stop mud slinging. How can you honestly as a man support this guy as your president? His own protection costs millions more than the budget for the National Endowment of the Arts and Humanities. He’s out of touch with the common man, and I know you’re not a corporate CEO so stop acting like you’re better than anyone.

Health care is NOT a right. its up to each and ever human to provide itself with it! you have a right to work your ass off to achieve it. Grow up!

The CBO is a joke. Look at the Obama care projections by the CBO and they were off by 60 percent. I don’t believe anything they project. In fact, they are useless and should be shut down. We can use their wasted funding on something more important.
