SACRAMENTO – Assemblywoman Melissa A. Melendez, R-Lake Elsinore, announced Tuesday the Democrat-controlled legislature killed the Campus Free Speech Act to protect the freedom of speech for all students on college campuses.
“Freedom of Speech is not free in California – it comes with a price: as long as you say what government wants to hear, they’ll protect your right to speak.” Melendez said. “Students have been beaten, punched, kicked, and even spat on for speaking their minds. While Democrats ignore the helpless, you can always count on them to exclusively protect those who agree with their political views and alternative facts.”
There have been several, well-reported cases at universities and colleges recently where students and faculty have stifled freedom of speech on campus.
AB 2081, sponsored by the Goldwater Institute, would have prevented administrators from disinviting speakers invited by students, required punishment for students who harass others freedom of speech, and would have outlawed “free speech zones” on campuses.
“Protecting free speech on our university campuses should not be a partisan issue,” Naweed Tahmas, External Vice President of the UC Berkeley College Republican said. “I am disappointed that our Democratic lawmakers have succumbed to the UC’s lobbying machine. They failed in their duty to protect the constitutional rights of California’s students.”
Assemblywoman Melissa A. Melendez represents the 67th Assembly District, which includes the communities of Lake Elsinore, Canyon Lake, Murrieta, Menifee, Wildomar and a portion of Hemet. Does this surprise anyone? DemoKKKrats are suppose to be the “inclusive” political party but “inclusiveness” doesn’t apply if you disagree with their radical, treasonous, anti-American, anti-law enforcement, anti-morality, pro illegal immigration agenda.
DemoKKKrats are the party of violence, hatred, and racism and FINALLY on a daily basis they are being exposed for who they really are!
Democrats are intrested in only one thing, and that is their own political narrative, which includes keeping poor minority neighborhoods poop.
I’d say something, but I don’t want them showing up in the middle of the night and taking my family.
