Delta Veterans Group “Hire a Veteran” Job Fair Set for Saturday

by ECT

The Delta Veterans Group will be hosting their first “Hire A Veteran” Job Fair this Saturday from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm in Antioch.

The job fair is aimed at connecting employers who have jobs available and want to hire veterans. It will also have resources available in the community for you and your family along with an opportunity to connect and meet with other veterans.

“Our returning veterans as well as veterans that have served our great country in the past deserve the respect that comes with employment,” says J.R. Wilson. “We as a community have an obligation to our veterans due to the sacrifices soldiers, sailors and airman make on a daily bases for our freedom.”

According to Wilson, the veterans fair will have 11 employers and 8 resource booths available. Some of Employers are the Antioch Police Department, Vallejo Police Department. Meanwhile, the  EDD will haven job postings there as well.

Wilson has a goal of around 150-200 veterans attend the fair in hopes of helping them land a job which is often a difficult transition from military life to the workforce.

“I think that it is hard for veterans to make the transition from military life to civilian life. That is do to a lot of different factors. However we at DVG feel that having the communities work together to help these veterans to become part of our community will help our veterans feel like they belong here,” says Wilson.

Earlier this week, Assemblyman Jim Frazier put out a press release encouraging folks attend the event. Assemblyman Jim Fraziers office will be on hand along with Congressman Jerry McNerney and Congressman George Miller officers.

Great event, we really need to do more for our veterans in Antioch. My cars both have “support our troops” stickers from the Veteran’s thrift store, I rarely, if ever, see similar stickers on cars around town. Please show your support.
