Here is a look at a few events scheduled for this weekend in East Contra Costa County:


9:00 am: Holiday Fun Run (Antioch – Contra Loma Park)
The Kiwanis Club of the Delta from Antioch, State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson, East Bay Regional Park District, and the City of Antioch proudly present The Holiday Run and Walk for Health!

This race event, preparing for our 40th year, benefiting local schools, youth, and libraries and is an effective vehicle to promote and build a healthy community—starting with our youth!

  • 1 Mile Run/Walk 9 a.m.
  • 10K Run 9:30 a.m.
  • 3 Mile Run/Walk 9:35 a.m.
  • Kids Dashes with Santa 10:15 a.m.

10:00 am: Oakley to Host Breakfast with Santa
Don’t miss your chance to see Santa on Saturday, December 10th at 10:00 a.m. at the
Oakley Recreation Building (1250 O’Hara Ave).

Santa will be taking time out of his busy schedule to join us for breakfast and to visit with children. The continental breakfast will include pastries, fruit, juice, cocoa, and coffee. There will also be make‐n‐take holiday crafts for the children. Parents may bring cameras to capture the special moment. Pre‐registration is required and space is limited.

The cost is $7.00 per person.

10:00 am: Newberry’s B.L.O.C.K Toy Drive & Car Show
Every year, Jeremy Newberry holds a toy drive that has contributed hundreds of Christmas gifts for underprivileged children of Contra Costa County. This year the annual toy drive will be hosted by Jeremy’s foundation, Newberry’s B.L.O.C.K. (est. 2016).

The events planned for the day include:

  • Car Show
  • Music
  • BBQ lunch
  • Pop Up Shopping
  • Kids Activity Buses
  • and more!

Provide new unwrapped toys or a $20 donation and receive a delicious BBQ lunch.

1:00 pm: Lynn House Gallery Exhibit
The exhibit is titled “Planes, Trains, Automobiles and More!” and will feature transportation in every mode. From high capacity transportation (trains/planes) to solo occupancy (walking, roller skating) transportation in every form will be celebrated.

The Lynn House Gallery is located in downtown Antioch across from the Amtrak Station, 809 West 1st Street and is open Wednesdays & Saturdays from 1-4 PM during exhibits.

4:00 pm: Lighted Boat Parade
Join the San Joaquin Yacht Club for the lighted boat parade beginning at 4:00 pm with the actual parade at 5:00 pm at 550 Riverview Place, Bethe Island. www.sjyc.org

First Light: Hook Line & Sinker Bass Tournament Circuit
The Hook, Line & Sinker bass tournament circuit is a low cost circuit for the amateur angler. The entry fee of $70 per team includes cash awards for the top 7 teams, plaques for the top 3 teams in each tournament and a hot dog BBQ after each tournament. At each tournament we also have a young angler raffle for our participants age 16 and under. A portion of the entry fee is also used to host the Tournament of Champions and tri-trip BBQ for the anglers at the end of each year. This is a great place to start if you want to fish professional tournaments or if you just want to have fun

12:00 pm: Antioch Women’s Club 62nd Annual Holiday Home Tour & Reception
See seven decorated houses during the Candy Cane and Silver Lane Themed Holiday Home Tour followed by a reception at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6435 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

2:00 pm: El Campanil: The Golden Follies Holiday Show
Raise your holiday spirits by joining The Golden Follies as these talented and energetic senior performers brighten the holiday season with A Very “Follies” Holiday !  Lively choreography, heartwarming music, Reindeer, Snowflakes, Frosty, Christmas Trees, Bright Colored Packages, Santa and more.
