Dec. 8-9: Black Diamond Ballet’s Nutcracker in Pittsburg

Black Diamond Ballet, an East Contra Costa County non-profit ballet company, is excited to present its 2018 rendition of the Nutcracker.

Now in its seventh year, the production will feature Bay Area professional dancers including Antioch native, Terrin Kelly (Sugar Plum Fairy), Luke Lazarro (Sugar Plum Cavalier,) Andrea Herrea (Rose Queen), Amanda Farris (Arabian), and Darius Travella-Jarber (Nutcracker Prince), along with 40 student dancers and actors. This year’s production features new and exciting changes to choreography, costumes, and storylines. This is a Nutcracker you do not want to miss!

“This year I have made a multitude of changes to our show. It’s our goal to showcase our professional dancers, but also give our student performers opportunities to grow and shine with a fresh take at this holiday tradition.” – Sharon Sobel Idul, Artistic Director

In addition to regularly scheduled performances, Black Diamond Ballet will offer a special school field trip on Friday, December 7 at 10:30 a.m., to approximately 1,000 private, public, and homeschooled students, to preview a one-hour version of the show. Educators, please contact us immediately for space availability.

Artistic Director and choreographer, Sharon Sobel Idul, is a Pittsburg native and graduate of Pittsburg High School, CSULB Dance, and current Masters of Education candidate. She is the owner of Pittsburg Performing Arts Academy and dance teacher at Pittsburg High School.
