The first Delta Regional Forum on Water Management and Planning is scheduled for Friday, December 14, 2012 from 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. The agenda and meeting materials are posted online at: www.waterplan.water.ca.gov/materials/index.cfm?subject=dec1412.

Please RSVP using the following link: www.surveymonkey.com/s/DeltaForumRSVP.

The California Department of Water Resources, in cooperation with local entities and organizations, is sponsoring a Regional Forum to gather and share information relating to the California Water Plan and Integrated Water Management.

The meeting location is in Antioch, at the Antioch Community Center, West Island Room, 4703 Lone Tree Way. Webinar options are listed on the agenda for remote participation. A working lunch is available for $10, please be sure to RSVP!

Why Participate?

The Forum agenda includes the following two key elements:

  • A discussion of considerations important from regional and local perspectives – where your input is essential.
  • Descriptions of major Delta programs, followed by a discussion on how these programs are prioritizing their respective efforts.

The Forum agenda will focus on discussing local and regional water management programs, priorities conditions and challenges. This information will help develop the Water Plan Update 2013 Delta Regional Report, which tells the water story for this area and will help inform statewide investments. An Executive Summary of the Regional Report will be included in the Water Plan Highlights document – capturing key elements of strategic water planning issues, priorities and recommendations. The Regional Reports are used by the Legislature and the descriptions of local and regional conditions inform policy-making.

An initial working draft of the 2013 Regional Report is posted on the meeting webpage listed above. This preliminary draft contains placeholder text to topics that will be developed further. A working session will focus on refining the initial draft.

Representatives of water agencies and collaboratives; local, state, Tribal and federal government; watershed and community groups; conservancies; and the public are welcome and needed for successful dialog.

Forum Agenda

The agenda items for this Forum will focus on Delta programs, with updates and discussion on the Water Plan Regional Reports and topic-based caucuses (including the groundwater, finance and sustainable indicators caucuses). The primary focus will be the description of local conditions related to water resources and planning.
