Danville: Suspect in Custody for Attempted Murder

by ECT

On Thursday, at about 3 PM, Deputy Sheriffs were dispatched to a report of an unknown man with a gun in the garage of a home on the 2400 block of Marsanne Street in unincorporated Danville. The subject, later identified as 64-year-old Harry Alexander, was brandishing a gun and threatening residents. Alexander battered one of them before leaving.

Alexander then drove to the 1400 block of Menton Street, where he forced entry into a residence. He began brandishing the gun at the residents. Two male residents were able to grab Alexander, while a third person hit him in the head with a water pitcher.

As they struggled with Alexander, he attempted to shoot one of the men by firing his gun. The first round barely missed one of the men. Both of them were able to take the gun from Alexander and restrained him until Deputies arrived.

While on-scene Deputies learned about an earlier domestic incident at his residence on the 2400 block of Marsanne.

Alexander was treated at a local hospital and later transported to the Martinez Detention Facility for booking on the following charges: attempted homicide, domestic violence, burglary, criminal threats, battery and brandishing a firearm. He is being held in lieu of $1,210,000 bail.
