Contra Costa: Second Suspect Wanted in Tara Hills Homicide

The Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff is looking for 20-year old Kyle Navarro of El Sobrante in connection with a murder that occurred in the unincorporated community of Tara Hills.

On March 31, 2014, at about 2:51 PM, Deputy Sheriffs were dispatched to a report that someone had been shot at a residence on the 2600 block of Cornelius Drive. Deputies arrived and found 24-year-old Nicholas Callen suffering from a gunshot wound. He was later pronounced deceased at the scene.

On April 16, 2014, Detectives and Deputy Sheriffs from the Contra Costa Sheriff’s Office along with the U.S. Marshals Service arrested 28-year-old Michael McQueen in Sonoma. McQueen was wanted in connection with the killing of Callen. McQueen was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility for first-degree murder. He is being held in lieu of $2 million bail.

The Contra Costa County District Attorney has filed a formal murder charge against Navarro and an arrest warrant has been issued for him.
