Contra Costa County Public Works Department will close Canal Road/Alves Lane at the Contra Costa Canal bridge approximately 0.5 miles west of Bailey Road in the Bay Point area for five months while the existing bridge is replaced with a new concrete bridge.
The project will include the reconstruction of the adjacent roadways and sidewalks, and removal of the adjacent pedestrian bridge.
The new bridge will include five feet wide sidewalks.
Work is expected to begin on August 7, 2017 and is anticipated to be completed in December 2017.
Canal Road/Alves Lane will be completely closed at the bridge with a detour to Willow Pass Road and Bailey Road. The adjacent pedestrian bridge over the canal will be in service for most of the construction period prior to removal.
