by ECT

Former Deputy Sheriff Ricardo Perez resigned today while the subject of an on-going Contra Costa Sheriff’s Office Internal Affairs investigation into his alleged participation in the Oakland Police Department sexual misconduct investigation.

He is no longer employed by the Office of the Sheriff.

He remains subject to a criminal investigation being conducted by the Oakland Police Department.

Sheriff David Livingston said, “We earn the public trust through honesty, transparency and accountability. Although this case involved one deputy out of the over one thousand Sheriff’s Office employees, we will not tolerate even a single breach of the public trust we work so hard to earn.”
