Contra Costa County Gun Buyback Event Nets 199 Firearms Collected

The Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office and the Pittsburg Police Department held a Gun Buyback event at Pittsburg City Hall between 9:00 am to 3:00 pm which netted 199 firearms being collected.

According to Pittsburg Police, the types of firearms recovered included:

  • 76-Handguns
  • 70-Rifles
  • 50-Shotguns
  • 3-assault rifles.

Pittsburg Police Captain Ron Raman stated that a majority of the firearms collected were in good working condition. Of the three assault weapons collected, two were SKS style rifles and the third was a fully automatic AK 47.

This was a countywide event was funded by the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office and payment for the firearms were in the form of gift cards from Target Stores.

Police are saying this was a successful event and they want thank the residents of Contra Costa County for their participation and support.
