Contra Costa Animal Services to Host St. Pitty’s Day Celebration

by ECT

On Sunday March 26 from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm, Contra Costa Animal Services is hosting its 7th St. Pitty’s Day Celebration.

The event will take place at the Martinez shelter (4800 Imhoff Place) where they will showcase the bully breed shelter dogs, which make up over half of the animal population in our County shelters.

According to Steve Burdo, spokesperson for Animal Services, the event seeks to raise awareness about these often misunderstood breeds and displays to the community what great pets and members of the family they can be. St. Pitty’s Day also provides an opportunity to interact with – and adopt – our shelter dogs and highlights the collaborative work between CCAS and our local rescue group partners. The day will be filled with fun activities, great food and music. This event is free to attend.

“Our goal on Sunday is to find loving homes for all of the bully breed dogs, as well as all of the animals, in our care.” said Burdo.

The event will feature the following:

  • Police K-9 Unit Demonstration
  • Live Music
  • Food Trucks
  • Raffle Prizes
  • Pet Related Vendors
  • Pet Food Express

The event will have special pricing for all lucky dogs adopted from Animal Services – $50.
