Contra Costa Animal Services Seek Information on Deceased Dog Found in Canal With Legs Bound

Martinez CA, On Monday June 22, 2015, workers found a deceased dog in the Contra Costa Water District Canal at Walnut Ave near Oak Grove in Walnut Creek. While retrieving the remains, the workers noticed that the dog’s rear legs were bound with a shoelace.

The dogs remains, (The animal was later identified as “Gino,” a 14 year-old, male blue Merle Australian Shepherd), were retrieved by Contra Costa Water District personnel and transported to Animal Services as a stray.

This incident is now being investigated as a cruelty case Contra Costa County Animal Services would like anyone with relevant information on this criminal incident to contact our agency at 925-335-8373.

I hope they find whomever did this. I think castration , and then tethered in the desert sun, would be the best way to take care of this vermin
