Antioch, CA – Congressman Jerry McNerney (CA-09) announced today that he will co-host a seminar for area seniors to help them learn how to protect themselves when hiring a contractor, and avoid common scams like identity theft and Medicare fraud. The seminar will take place this Thursday, August 7th from 2pm to 4pm at the Antioch Police Department Community Room, located at 300 L Street in Antioch.
The seminar will be co-hosted by the Contractors State License Board and State Controller’s Office, and features expert speakers from many local, state and federal agencies. Other topics include fraudulent auto repair and investments.
“I encourage seniors in our area to attend this seminar,” said Rep. McNerney. “We’ll have useful information about how we can all protect ourselves from getting taken advantage of by scammers. I’m pleased to be able to bring these experts to our community.”
