Congressman DeSaulnier’s Statement on House Passage of the Continuing Resolution

by ECT
Rep Mark DeSaulnier

Washington, DC – On Thursday, Congressman Mark DeSaulnier (CA-11) issued the following statement after the House of Representatives passed a continuing resolution, H.R. 195, by a vote of 230-to-197.

“For months, Republican Leadership and the Trump Administration were singularly focused on passing a tax scam to benefit the ultra-wealthy and corporations. Instead of working with Democrats to develop a comprehensive budget, they have put our country on the brink of a government shutdown for the fourth time in as many months. This is no way for government to run. Without a budget deal, priorities important to our district including the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) and community health centers will not receive the funding they need, and the 800,000 Dreamers will remain in limbo. It has been more than 20 years since Congress passed a budget through the normal process. I voted against H.R. 195, because it is long past time for government to work for the people, and I support a bill that puts first the health, wellbeing, and success of all Americans.”

Always with the rich vs the poor sob story DeSaulnier. Actually saw a report last night on the news that Apple’s gonna be bringing a bunch of jobs over to the US after the new tax law goes into affect. You previously wrote about how horrible the new tax law is. So we have businesses bringing jobs back as well as the rest of us hard working legal Americans having more money after taxes, I guess that’s a bad thing…..

Your state Sir is a good example of what absolutely taxing the living hell out of the rich and corporations causes…… all the rich and businesses to leave to other states with less tax, less regulation and easier to do business. A businesses job is to do one thing….make money, not do the humanitarian thing and employee tons of people while not making a profit.

You Democrats are doing the same exact thing the Republicans did when Obama was president by holding the Government hostage to get what you want. Illegal is Illegal no matter how you slice it or classify them as Dreamers. If they are here illegally, then they need to be sent back and come here the right way. It’s not their fault they were brought here illegally by their parents, but it’s also not my fault that I should have to pay for it. I can assure you if these dreamers were more likely to vote Republican, the Democrats would be all up in arms and would be shipping them out immediately.

This is what our government has become, all about winning the vote and pressing their own agendas, instead of doing what’s right for the country. I for one am so tired of the current people in Congress on both sides and think we need to replace all of them. You all in Congress need to work together for the people like you were elected to do or need to be replaced.

Mark is what is wrong with the political machine and also California. I’m not sure even he believes what he is saying.

It’s too bad Mark can’t see himself and the bias he is peddling.

California is a big tax scam too. You collect, collect, collect and fix nothing. Transit, traffic, roads and schools are a joke. Where were all you Dems when GOP was doing this tax plan? You all stood silent and did nothing. California taxes are ridiculous compared to other states. You suck.

Deport ALL of the DACA recipients and let them get in line behind the individuals who followed the law and are waiting to legally enter our country!
