Congressman DeSaulnier Calls on Attorney General Sessions To Resign

by ECT

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Mark DeSaulnier (CA-11) issued the following statement after a Washington Post report exposed that Attorney General Jeff Sessions lied about his interactions with Russian officials under oath during his Senate confirmation hearing:

“The unanswered questions surrounding Russian involvement in our electoral system has left many Americans concerned and seeking answers. During his confirmation hearing to become Attorney General of the United States, and while under oath, Senator Sessions said he had not been in communication with Russian officials throughout the presidential campaign. Today’s report that he lied under oath about meeting with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak twice last year and is the only known lawmaker on the Senate Armed Services Committee to take meetings with the Russian ambassador during this timeframe is cause for Attorney General Sessions to immediately resign.

“The American people deserve to know the full extent to which the Trump campaign and its surrogates colluded with the Russians to interfere in our democratic process. There should be a bipartisan effort to make absolutely certain that no laws have been broken and that both the letter and spirit of the Constitution has been upheld. America’s top cop must be honest and above reproach, and Attorney General Sessions’ actions have shown he can be neither.”

Why don’t you go first Mark? When it comes to shady behavior and public mistrust you, Mark are first in line.

Then we can all get to work on getting rid of Jim Frazier next!

Mr. Desaulnier knows that Mr. Sessions answered the question during testimony truthfully. His hatred in his heart is preventing him with being honest with the People. He was on the Senate Armed Services Committee under President Obama and meeting with a Russian Ambassador after Russian activity in Syria and Crimea would not be unusual but rather necessary. Do you really think he met twice with the Ambassador to arrange for an email cyber theft of the DNC? If unbelievably so, have concrete evidence he lied and then accuse him. Hatred has blinded you Mark.

Where is the proof!. say a lie long enough and loud enough and it becomes truth? TO HELL IT DOES! This is FAKE! AS USUAL! There is no proof of Russian hacking! THERE IS, HOWEVER PROOF OF HILLARY/ OBAMA/ PELOSI…BEING CHINESE AGENTS!
There is PROOF of Hillary and Obama selling our uranium mines to Russia!

so what’s worse, sitting down as a Senator, not as a Trump administrator. to talk with a Russian ambassador (like all Senators do…Democrats and Republicans) OR SELL THEM OUR URANIUM!!

The American people deserve to know the full extent to which the Russians interfered in our election process. Investigations that are conducted by professionals (that means not members of the US Congress) start without preconceived notions and follow the trail of evidence. That is the only assurance they will be successful in reaching the truth about an allegation. Since you and I both know that the Russians (and the Soviet Union’s KGB before Russia collapsed) have been meeting with American politicians for many decades and devoted an entire Line (PR) of the KGB to meddling in American politics for the express purpose of shaping pubic opinion, perhaps we should make sure the public is aware of that fact as this investigation begins. Perhaps we should also let the public know that for years Senators and Congressmen and their staffs have been required by their oaths of office and clearance levels to report on every contact they’ve had with citizens and officials of countries that America considers as directing hostile intelligence activities against us-and most of the time your colleagues don’t routinely comply with that requirement.

Although there currently is NO EVIDENCE that any individual involved with the Trump campaign tried to influence the outcome of the 2016 election through contacts with Russia, there is substantial evidence that the administration of President Barack Obama made key judgements that opened up the door to Russian intelligence activities and created serious security violations inside of government which made our entire country and some of its highly sensitive information vulnerable to those activities and hostile actors. Perhaps you can answer for all of us some key questions as you join your fellow Democrats on your McCarthy like crusade for “justice” and “truth.” I can promise you any of these questions should and must be answered during your investigation-but none of you will like the answers.

For example, if President Obama was so concerned about the intelligence threat posed by Russia, why did he downplay and participate in mocking former Presidential candidate Mitt Romney in the 2012 debate where Romney called Russia America’s primary geopolitical threat? When the President irresponsibly behaved like that, he conveyed to many Americans that there was no threat from Russia. Was that just a debate political performance without any meaning or substance? Also, during early 2012, what did President Obama mean when he patted Dmitriy Medvedev, Russia’s President at the time, on the knee, and was caught with a hot mic telling Medvedev he’d have more flexibility dealing with an issue after the election and to let “Vladimir” know? In one of the most serious (and substantive) national security investigations of any politician during the years since Watergate-the investigations into Hillary Clinton’s hacked emails and the DNC computer hacking, why didn’t the Democratic Party allow the FBI to directly access and review DNC’s cyber systems? Regardless of the baloney you and your fellow Democrats want to spin, the FBI needed and should have had direct access to the DNC computers. Interestingly, the RNC had no issue granting direct access to its machines. Why did President Obama fail to make the public aware of possible Russian meddling during the election or even in its immediate aftermath, if he felt so strongly about this threat. It appears his people had time to order others in his administration to distribute intelligence reports throughout the government so those reports could be leaked after President Trump took office.

Last, but certainly not least, (and I hope you will answer this for all of your constituents, including those of us who would never vote for you or any living Democrat), if President Obama was and is so concerned about contacts with Russian intelligence, why in the world did he feel it in the best interest of the United States to normalize relations with Fidel Castro’s Cuba. I’m sure you are aware that Cuban intelligence has long been the most effective surrogate intelligence service to the Russians. Cuban intelligence has scored some impressive accomplishments-including their operations in the late 1970’s and early 1980’s that completely neutralized CIA operations against them. Just about every significant CIA recruitment the agency thought they had against the Cubans during that time was false and American intelligence agencies and our country paid a big price. Of course, the Cubans, surrogates that they were, fed all of their “take” to the Russians. So with his Cuban initiative, former President Obama has normalized relations with a country that sponsors terrorism, is a major hostile intelligence player, operates within emigre communities and uses its US establishments to conduct operations against us with and without its Russian counterparts and is free to be effective and lethal once again. Why would the President open that door at this time in history?

Congressman, this is all politics at its very lowest and most evil-the hard left Democratic Party with a big assist from a discredited media that will never accept the results of the 2016 election. Where was this hard charging media and where were you when former AG Loretta Lynch met on a private plane with the husband of a target of a significant FBI investigation? Never heard from you or your colleagues then! So please answer that question also. Perhaps then we can all get to the truth. But alas, as was made quite clear in a Few Good Men, you Congressman can’t handle the truth.
