CONFIRE Prevents Pittsburg Commercial Blaze from Spreading

by ECT

Around 9:52 am,  crews from the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District (CONFIRE)  responded to a commercial fire on E. 3rd Street/Industrial where they had a perfect scenario to get the blaze under control in less than 20 minutes as the wind had not yet picked up.

According to one of the firefighters on scene, there was metal being cut with a slight breeze and one of the sparks carried over to a nearby field which caught fire and quickly spread. CONFIRE crews worked diligently to prevent it from spreading to nearby buildings. A total of four engines were sent to the scene. Had the grass and brush around the commercial buildings been a little browner, a little taller and the wind picked up more than it was this could have been a very ugly incident.

Here are some of the photos from today, keep in mind I got to the scene about 40 minutes after it began so all the ‘drama” was over with.

Nice job. I was wondering why I saw all those engines this morning.

Great photos and appreciate the coverage. Not very shocking the Contra Costa Times had nothing in the paper about this incident. Thank you for sharing the news with the public.
