Through a thorough investigation, conducted by the District’s Fire Investigations Unit, part of the Fire Prevention Bureau, three suspects were identified and arrested without incident. Two arrests occurred on October 18, the third was on October 19. One of those arrested was an employee of the restaurant. All suspects are age 18 and currently incarcerated in the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Detention Center pending action on the case by the District Attorney.

Suspects include:

  • Raveena Raman, 18 of Pittsburg
  • Miuler Reyes, 18 of Pittsburg
  • Octavio Montano Jr, 18 of Pittsburg

The commercial structure fire was reported for the Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant located at 2410 Mahogany Way in Antioch at 12:45 am on October 17th.  While responding to the scene, smoke was observed coming from the roof. Upon arrival, the Con Fire incident commander immediately requested a second alarm response due to the heavy smoke and flames present.  Due to the amount of structural damage, an exterior attack was commenced and carried out through the next few hours until the fire was brought under control.

There were no injuries to responding personnel.

Participating agencies included the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District Fire Investigations Unit and the Antioch and Pittsburg Police Departments.

Why on earth would you want to burn down a KFC? This makes no sense at all.

Don’t rule out inside job. KFC haven’t been doing so well. At least this franchise.

It’s a corporation guys. This will just be a write-off for them, which incurs massive tax breaks and bonuses for the admins and investors.

Really toxic fire. Thick eye-burning smoke. Feel bad for fire fighters having to deal with this toxic, blinding smoke. Exiting 4, turning right on Somersville and it smelled really awful. Thought Lowe’s was on fire.

I wired that building 14 years ago. I’m happy to find out it wasn’t anything I did.

I’ll bet the workers there were wired too.
