Concord Police Update: Six Charged in Shootings, Murder

by ECT

The Concord Police Department announced via social media on Monday that on the night after the homicide of Lawrence Janson, Concord PD made several arrests.

The following information was released by police:

The District Attorney’s Office later brought formal charges against one adult, Krisithiam Uceda of Concord, for murder. Additional charges were brought against one juvenile male for murder and one juvenile male for being an accessory after the fact for helping hide the firearm used in the crime.

Detectives from Concord’s Investigations Division continued to investigate the murder for several weeks and were able to find additional evidence of the crime. They also discovered that the same group of individuals was responsible for a shooting that happened near Ellis St. and Clayton Rd. on October 13, 2017. In that crime, a female Concord resident was wounded in the leg. She was later released from the hospital.

Recently, the Investigations Division presented the additional evidence from the murder to the District Attorney’s Office, as well as the new evidence from the Ellis St. / Clayton Rd. shooting investigation. As a result, five people have now been charged and arrested for the murder of Lawrence Janson.

The latest arrests occurred on Friday, November 17, 2017, when Detectives, with assistance from Concord SWAT and Patrol Officers, served several high risk warrants to capture these suspects.

Summary of Charges:

  • Kristhiam Uceda, 20 years old, has now been charged with the murder of Lawrence Janson and attempted murder for the Ellis St. / Clayton Rd. shooting.
  • Bryan Chachagua, 18 years old, has now been charged with the murder of Lawrence Janson.
  • Three 17 year old male juveniles have also been charged with the murder of Lawrence Janson and attempted murder for the Ellis St. / Clayton Rd. shooting.
  • A sixth suspect, a 17 year old male juvenile, has also been charged with the Ellis St. shooting. That suspect does not appear to have been present for the murder of Lawrence Janson.
  • All six individuals have also been charged with California Penal Code Section 186.22, which is a street gang enhancement. The investigation has shown that all six were associated with the criminal street gang MS-13 at the time of the crimes.

I doubt it was actually “MS13.” Concord has a lot of old sureno clicks that go back decades now (they also use 13-its an old sign for the South side). Doesn’t matter though with gang enhancements.

I say this as some one who has had family and friends on both sides the barrel- please respect the families torn apart, both by this act of violence and it’s aftermath. I hope for a fair trial, where justice is met and rights respected.

I say this as a former hard-head who now works with other young hard heads.
