Concord Police Investigating Officer Involved Shooting of Antioch Man

by ECT

On Saturday, just after 5:30 PM, Concord Officers conducted a car stop in the 1500 block of Allegro Ave near Clayton Rd. The car stop was in support of an active investigation involving an on-going domestic violence incident stemming from an Antioch Police Investigation earlier in the day.

The person wanted by the Antioch Police Department in that domestic dispute was a 40 year old man out of Antioch CA.

As Concord Officers contacted the people in the car, the wanted suspect from Antioch CA. was identified as one of the passengers. The suspect had a Felony warrant for his arrest out of Contra Costa County for the charges of Robbery, Terrorist Threats and for Dissuading a witness/victim through the expressed or implied threat of force or violence.

As Officers placed the suspect under arrest, he fled and an Officer Involved Shooting occurred which resulted in the suspect being shot. Officers provided medical aid to the suspect until Paramedics arrived on scene. He was then taken to a local hospital to be treated for his injuries. His condition at this time is unknown.

The Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office was notified and a comprehensive investigation into the Officer Involved Shooting is underway per protocol.

If you witnessed this event, please contact Detective Mahan of the Concord Police Major Crimes Unit at (925) 603-5817.

This is a fresh and fluid investigation and as soon as more information is developed, an update will be provided.

For all media inquiries, please contact Lieutenant Nicholas Gartner at (925) 671-5095.

What a POS. Who cares about his condition. As long as the woman is okay, as well as the officer.

I kind of hoped a K9 would be let loose to go after the culprit as well, but in retrospect, it was better that the cop shot him!
