Update: Security Guard Shoots Man Outside Movie Theater

One person has been arrested in connection with a shooting this evening that injured a person outside Brenden Theater in Concord, police said.

The shooting was reported at 6:48 p.m. at Salvio and Galindo streets.

The victim was transported to a hospital, Concord police spokesman Christopher Blakely said. There is also no outstanding subjects.

Brenden Theater was evacuated for precautionary reasons, according to police.

The theater is now closed for the night as the shooting occurred near the parking garage.

Further information will be provided when Concord Police release the details.

Update – Claycord.com is reporting the following:

Concord police spokesman Cpl. Christopher Blakely said an altercation began inside the theatre between a security guard and another person who is a suspect in the incident.

Police don’t know yet why the suspect was in the theatre, but he allegedly said he had a gun and was going to kill the guard.

The guard chased the person outside where he told him to get down while pointing a gun at him, Blakely said.

The guard shot the suspect multiple times, Blakely said. The suspect was taken to a hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening.

The shooting took place in an alley between the theatre and a parking structure.

Police cleared the theatre and checked to see whether there were any other suspects. None were found and police closed the theatre for the night, Blakely said.

The guard cooperated with police, who took him to the police station to be interviewed. The streets in the area were reopened by 11:15 p.m.
