Concord: Murder Charge Filed Against Man in Fatal Nov 5 DUI Collision

by ECT

Martinez, Calif. The Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office and the Concord Police Department announce that Bo Steven Robledo of Selma, California has been charged with murder following a fatal driving under the influence collision in Concord. Robledo is in custody on $1,180,000 million bail.

Just before midnight on November 5, 2017, Robledo’s vehicle collided head-on with the victim’s vehicle near Kinne Bridge on Willow Pass Road in Concord. Robledo’s high rate of speed and intoxication were contributing causes in the collision. The 21-year-old female driver of the victim vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. Her passenger, a 26-year-old male, suffered significant traumatic injuries, including brain injury.

The murder charge, and two additional felony counts and a misdemeanor violation, were filed on April 3. Robledo faces 15 years to life in state prison if convicted of the murder charge. This case is similar to a case filed last week by the District Attorney’s office which charged defendant Jose Amaya-Rivera with murder and driving under the influence. The Amaya-Rivera fatal collision occurred about a mile from this incident.

The tragic loss of life in each of these incidents underscores the very real danger to the citizens of our County when drivers choose to get behind the wheel and drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The Concord Police Department, the District Attorney’s Office and the law enforcement agencies of Contra Costa County are committed to ensuring the safety of the public on our roadways and to the prosecution of those who drive under the influence to the fullest extent of the law.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, every day, 28 individuals in our country die in crashes that involve an alcohol-impaired driver. This amounts to one death every 51 minutes.

Charges against Robledo:

  • Felony Count 1) PC187(a) – Murder
  • Felony Count 2) VC23153(a)&23560 – Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol Causing Injury Within 10 Years of Another DUI Offense
  • Felony Count 3) VC23153(b)&23560 – Driving with a .08% Blood Alcohol Content Causing Inquiry Within 10 Years of Another DUI Offense

What’s disgusting about it? A wall dividing the two roads would have prevented the head on collision.

That’s not the type of wall he was referring to.
