CHP: Wrong Way Driver Out of Antioch Arrested in Stolen Vehicle After Pursuit

by ECT

At approximately 1:36pm, Contra Costa Area CHP began pursuit of a stolen BMW X5 SUV. A few minutes later, the BMW began driving wrong way on the freeway.

Contra Costa CHP units terminated the pursuit, out of concern for the safety of the motoring public. CHP Air Unit 37 followed the BMW as it traveled from Pleasanton to Oakland, via I-580 westbound. The BMW exited the freeway and began driving wrong way on numerous Oakland streets. Oakland CHP units were able to get into position at I-580 westbound to Harrison Street off-ramp, and re-engaged in the pursuit of the BMW. CHP units performed a successful PIT maneuver, and ended the pursuit.

The driver, 30 year old James Sims, out of Antioch, was taken into custody without injury. Sims was booked into Santa Rita jail for felony evasion, driving the wrong way on the freeway, possession of stolen property, and driving with a suspended license.

Nice job Jimmy. Looks peanut butter on toast for breakfast at Santa Rita on Friday. Enjoy.

What’s going on? Lately, most of the perpetrators of crimes in other venues are all residents of Antioch! Jeeeeeez! I hope Jimmy enjoys the showers! Don’t drop and pick up the soap!
