CHP: Start Smart Driving Safety Program Set for Tuesday at Freedom High School

Oakley Freedom HS Start Smart CHPStreet Smart is a two-hour driver safety education class targeting 15-19 year olds given by the California Highway Patrol (CHP).  The next installment will be held Tuesday, October 28, 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at Freedom High School – MPR, 1050 Neroly Road, Oakley.

The event is FREE and open to all Brentwood/Oakley students and parents, but registration is requested.

During a Start Smart class, officers discuss:
  • collision avoidance techniques
  • collision causing elements
  • driver/parent responsibilities
  • seat belt restraints
  • testimonials are provided by officers who have investigated fatal collisions involving teens, in addition to testimonials from parents whose children have perished in collisions.
