CHP Investigating Highway Shooting Near I-80 and Highway 4, One Injured

The California Highway Patrol is actively investigating a shooting on eastbound I-80, west of Highway 4 in Hercules as of 9:16 PM. A victim was struck in the leg by gunfire.

The incident caused a Sig-alert to be issued for eastbound Highway 80 at 9:37 p.m. which was due to police activity, but all lanes were reopened by 1:00a.m.

The suspect vehicle was described as a black Chevrolet El Camino with tinted windows. CHP Investigators are currently trying to locate a possible suspect regarding this matter. We will provide additional updates once we obtain further information.

Tuesday night’s shooting is the latest in a series of roughly 20 that have occurred on East Bay highways since November.

They stopped making El Camino in 1987 should be pretty easy to spot or locate I would think.
