On Friday, August 18, 2017 at approximately 9:52PM, Stockton CHP responded to a traffic collision on SR-4 east of Wilhoit Road.

Upon CHP and emergency medical personnel arrival, it was determined a 2012 BMW motorcycle, driven by a 41 year old male from Discovery Bay, had collided with a 2012 Freightliner, driven by a 33 year old male from Lodi.

In the initial investigation, it was determined the BMW motorcycle was driving westbound on SR-4 at a high rate of speed to the rear of the Freightliner big rig, which was also driving westbound on SR-4, at approximately 55 MPH. The motorcycle collided directly into the rear of the big rig. As a result of this collision, the driver of the motorcycle succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

At this point it is unknown if alcohol or drugs were a factor in this collision.

This is an ongoing investigation. If anyone witnessed this collision or events leading up to the collision, please contact the Stockton Area CHP at (209)938-4800.
