On August 24, 2016, at approximately 8:45 am, CHP received a call of a traffic collision involving a Nissan Altima and a Nissan truck on SR-24 in Lafayette.

A 24 year old female driver from Antioch was driving her Altima westbound on SR-24 just west of Acalanes Road. For reasons unclear at this time, she veered her Altima to the right, out of her lane, and collided into the left side of the Nissan truck. Then the Altima drifted back to the left into the center median where it came to rest.

Upon emergency medical personnel arrival, the female driver was unconscious and unresponsive. She was transported by ambulance to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek. Shortly after arriving there, she was pronounced deceased due to apparent prior medical issues unrelated to the collision.

There are no outstanding vehicles and alcohol or drugs do no appear to be a factor in this collision. If anyone witnessed this collision or can provide further information, please contact Contra Costa CHP and Officer Adolphson.
