Today I had the opportunity to be interviewed by Mr. Kyle Hoggan. Kyle has been in the Boy Scouts for approximately 1 month and he is extremely motivated to get ALL of his merit badges as quickly as possible!
I must tell you Kyle came into my office ready to fire questions at me….a little intimidating I might add! These weren’t just any questions, but well thought out questions regarding crime, community involvement, and staffing just to name a few.
What impressed me most was this young man’s confidence as he made eye contact with me during our interview. Kyle spoke with authority as he quite proudly explained his Mom is helping him achieve his merit badges. I asked Kyle “How old are you”, he told me “Eleven”. I told him I was shocked as he carried himself as someone who was “Fifteen”. My comment brought a smile to his face as I think he also knew he carried himself in a mature manner. I asked Kyle what he wanted to do for a career when he got older; he told me he wanted to be an Engineer. Based on our conversation, there is no doubt in my mind he will achieve his goal.
You may ask why I entitled this post “One of the best parts of the Job”. It’s simple, I get to meet positive young people like Kyle as part of my job that reassures me completely we have great kids in OUR community that are doing great things for the right reasons. It is so rewarding to have these positive interactions with people like Kyle.
As for us adults that are getting older, rest assured we are in good hands with people like Kyle as this country’s future.
