WALNUT CREEK, CA – The Contra Costa Transportation Authority (CCTA), 511 Contra Costa and County Connection have teamed up to provide free rides on County Connection’s Route 99X for the month of February. The 99X is an Express Route that provides weekday commute morning and evening service from the North Concord BART Station to the Amtrak Train Station in Martinez.
CCTA, 511 Contra Costa, and County Connection have been working together for years to offer transit incentives to help motivate motorists to use public transit whenever possible.
“CCTA is always looking for new ways to encourage greener travel choices,” said CCTA Executive Director Randell Iwasaki. “This is an opportunity for people who typically drive alone to try a different way of getting to work.”
Free rides are a proven mechanism to increase ridership. We appreciate our partners willingness to support Route 99X which has the potential to decrease single occupant vehicle use by connecting East County residents to employment, shopping and social services in Martinez,” said Rick Ramacier, County Connection General Manager.
Route 99X is the newest of eight express routes offered by County Connection. These express routes provide limited-stop service to help get residents and workers to their destination as efficiently as possible. BART commuters will find a seamless connection at the North Concord BART station. 99X riders can quickly and easily reach downtown Martinez, Contra Costa County offices, the Shell Oil Martinez Refinery, and other destinations, as well as connect to Amtrak and BART.
We invite people across Contra Costa County to try out Route 99X and see how transit can be a part of their routine. Every day, over 1,300 people rely on County Connection’s network of express routes to get them to where they need to go. Free rides on Route 99X throughout the month of February is an opportunity for everyone to use this new service and experience the benefits that it provides.
No pass is required to ride Route 99X in February, customers can just hop aboard and enjoy a fast, convenient trip.
