CASE Team Arrests Two Suspects Following Investigation

by ECT

Last month, Contra Costa County Anti-Violence Support Effort (CASE) Team began investigating a Fairfield resident regarding the illegal transfer of parts for an AR-15 rifle. CASE was able to obtain an arrest warrant for the suspect and a search warrant for his residence from a judge.

On January 16, 2018, the suspect was arrested on the 5900 block of Pacheco Boulevard after he sold a milled AR-15 lower (which is by law a firearm and could not be sold person to person), a large capacity magazine, and ammunition to a member of the CASE Team. 30-year-old Jeremy Rogers of Fairfield was arrested without incident.

Later that day, the CASE Team served a search warrant at a home on the 2100 block of Merritt Place in Fairfield. CASE recovered numerous weapons including an AR-15 short-barreled assault rifle, shotgun, and handguns. While at the residence, CASE arrested 60-year-old Terry Rogers,

Both were booked on various charges that included illegal transfer of a firearm, sales of a large capacity magazine, manufacturing an assault weapon, and possession of a short-barrel rifle,

Formal charges were filed against both in Contra Costa and Solano Counties. Both have since bailed out.

The CASE Team is a joint effort by the Office of the Sheriff, California Department of Justice, California Highway Patrol, Pittsburg Police Department, Walnut Creek Police Department, Contra Costa County Probation Department, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. CASE was created in November 2011 as a collaborative effort to reduce violent crimes in Contra Costa, especially those related to illegal firearms.

This is not the first time Jeremy Rogers has had a run in with the law over firearms, it’s people like this who give responsible gun owners heartburn.
