Campaign to Aid in the Relief Effort for Victims of the Baton Rouge Floods Announced

by ECT

Brentwood, CA – This past August, several states away in Louisiana, thousands of people
were displaced by the worst flooding our nation has seen since Hurricane Sandy. The floods
were responsible for the deaths of 13 people and catastrophic destruction to more than
60,000 homes with early damage estimates reported totaling $20-billion. This cause is still
very much alive—and though press coverage in the past few weeks has dwindled with the
focus quickly turning to the upcoming election or latest celebrity breakup—the hardships
for the residents of Baton Rouge and surrounding areas are ever-present.

The Law Offices of Silky Sahnan in Brentwood, CA, is prepared to answer the call for help,  accepting the challenge to raise awareness that there is still a huge need in the communities
affected. They have joined forces with the Baton Rouge Area Foundation (BRAF) who has
already granted more than $2-million to those residents who have been impacted. The
BRAF is a non-profit with roots in Louisiana, and the organization has been stalwart in their
efforts to get provisions and supplies to those who need it most.

“Our intention for this campaign is to not only collect funds to aid the victims, but to restore
hope that they have not been forgotten,” says Family Law Attorney Silky Sahnan regarding
organizing an independent relief effort. “As soon as news broke about the effects of the
floods I knew I had to do something.”

Baton Rouge resident Caroline Borck, who has endured through the worst of the flooding,
was excited to hear that there continues to be concerned citizens across the nation who
want to help.

“I am so glad to know there are people that understand that the needs here
[in Louisiana] are ongoing,” says Borck. “As people rebuild, the needs change.”

Despite the  tragic devastation to the area, Borck has had a hopeful attitude about the efforts to rebuild.

The Law Offices of Silky Sahnan is collecting tax deductible donations beginning October 10,
2016 through November 4, 2016 and will be donating 100 percent of the proceeds to the
Baton Rouge Area Foundation. At this time the best way to support the relief effort is by
providing monetary donations; the firm will be accepting contributions in the form of
checks, gift cards or credit card payments.

“For a lot of people the next step is paying contractors and rebuilding,” states Annie Jung, Louisiana resident and active participant in the local reconstruction efforts. “Most people
didn’t receive insurance money because they were not in a flood zone … this is what they
have to go through and these people lost everything.”

Rebuilding Louisiana is going to be a process—here’s how you can support the Law Offices  of Silky Sahnan in their endeavor to raise desperately-needed relief funds.
