California State Commanders Veterans Council names Frazier Legislator of the Year

by ECT

SACRAMENTO – Citing his strong support for veterans since taking office in 2012, the California State Commanders Veterans Council has named Assemblymember Jim Frazier (D-Discovery Bay) Legislator of the Year for 2018. The Council noted Frazier’s two-year battle to get a veteran designation on California driver licenses (which became law in 2015), legislation he authored to create the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Honor Committee and his ongoing advocacy on behalf of veterans at the Capitol.

“Assemblymember Frazier’s tenacity and perseverance are a greatly valued and deeply appreciated asset to the veterans of this state,” said Art Curtis, the Council’s legislative chairman. “We can depend on him to fight for veterans as well as the men and women currently serving our country in the military, and we look forward to continuing to work closely with him and his staff.”

Frazier has served on the Assembly Committee on Veterans Affairs since 2013. While in the Legislature, Frazier has sponsored the 25th Anniversary of the California Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Capitol Park and used his own funds to bring the “Wall That Heals” Vietnam Memorial Travelling Wall to the Capitol in 2014.

The California State Commanders Veterans Council is codified in state law in the Military and Veterans Code. The Council promotes the rights, benefits and opportunities of veterans in California. It conducts advocacy efforts in the Legislature and at Cal-Vet, the Department of General Services and myriad other state agencies, boards and commissions, and with businesses concerned with veterans. The Council serves as “The Official Voice of California Veterans.”

“It is such an honor to receive this recognition,” said Frazier, who accepted the award this morning during a brief ceremony at the Capitol. “I will proudly display it in my Capitol office, and invite constituents of the 11th Assembly District to stop by and see it. The issues facing veterans are very important to me. One of my favorite things about serving in the Assembly is sitting on the Committee on Veterans Affairs.”

“Legislator of the Year?” This must be a joke!

Frazier is a joke. It’s obvious that those that honor him with token annual awards, really don’t know him.

He is a bad actor. It’s out there, but some are slow to pick up on it. Frazier continues to shed constituents. His re-elections are becoming more difficult and he knows it. It’s why he has all but abandoned Contra Costa and relies on Solano county where they haven’t caught onto him yet. Key word, YET.
