Three people were injured with major injuries Tuesday morning after a head-on traffic collision around 5:24 am on Byron Highway near Byron Hot Springs.
Engine 59 arrived on scene to find two patients where they said one patient was suffering major injuries and a second patient minor injuries. In total, the ECCFPD had three patients with two requiring extrication. Two patients were transported via ground ambulance while the third was airlifted by helicopter to the hospital.
According to CHP, the preliminary investigation is that the truck went into the opposite lane of traffic to pass another vehicle which led to the crash.
The incident caused both directions of traffic to be closed down. The road was re-opened by 7:04 am.
