by ECT

At 6:09 pm Wednesday, a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed in the westbound direction of Highway 4 near Sand Creek veered off the roadway and ended up in a canal.

According to Battalion Chief 5 on scene, he located the vehicle and requested extra resources for a “heavy rescue” and a medical helicopter.

By 6:21 pm, Battalion Chief 5 requested a 2nd Code 3 ambulance. They also requested a helicopter to search the area for possible additional victims.

By 6:32 pm, Oakley Police was requested with a K9 to assist in searching for the second victim as a helicopter was coming from Napa to assist overhead.

By 7:21 pm, STAR3 was clear from the incident.

By 7:59 pm, BC5 reported that the vehicle had been pulled from the canal and no second victim was located. They were terminating the incident.

Slow down and pay attention. It’s not that hard. Idiot.

this is all too common on Highway 4 both east and west bound directions. vehicles at high rates of speed (100 mph +) whipping in and out of the lanes. I encounter it daily going to and from Pittsburg Bart; doesn’t matter the time of day either. Now and then I see CHP but that’s a rare sighting.
