Brentwood: Two Youths Injured After Being Struck by Vehicle

by ECT

At 3:18 pm Thursday, the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District responded to a report of a vehicle versus child in the 400 block of Chestnut Street near Garin Parkway.

As crews arrived on scene, they immediately requested a medical helicopter, however, the closest available unit was from Modesto and had a 30-minute estimated time of arrival. The decision was made for a ground transport to a local hospital by AMR.

According to Walter O’Grodnick, Brentwood Police Lieutenant, an 11 year-old and 12-year-old were sideswiped by a passing vehicle resulting in minor injuries to both youths.

“Both were transported to a local hospital for treatment. The driver, female adult remained on scene and was cooperative with investigators. Alcohol/drugs were not a factor. It’s still an open investigation and fault has yet to be determined,” said O’Grodnick in an email.

No further information was provided.
