Brentwood: Tow Truck Driver Pinned Between Vehicles Airlifted to Hospital

by ECT

At 8:20 am Monday, East Contra Costa Fire Protection District firefighters were dispatched to a report of a tow truck driver pinned between two vehicles in the Raley’s parking lot on Sand Creek Road in the City of Brentwood.

According to Battalion Chief Craig Auzenne, as the vehicle was placed on the flat bed of the truck, it began to roll backwards. The tow truck driver thought he could stop it from moving but it continued to roll off which then pinned him against the bumper of another vehicle.

Auzenne stated that when firefighters arrived on scene, the tow truck driver was already free from the two vehicles and it was determined that a medical helicopter was needed due to possible internal injuries.

It was unclear where the tow truck driver was pinned or for how long, but Auzeene estimated it was a short time period.

Brentwood police are investigating the incident.
