Emergency personnel made a nice save this evening in Brentwood as they responded to reports of a potential jumper on San Jose Ave. The suspect was deemed suicidal (5150) as he climbed up the construction area just after 9:00 pm Friday night and onto the overpass on Highway 4–San Jose Ave is right below.
This forced Brentwood Police to shut down San Jose Ave for about 30-minutes as crews worked to talk the male down. Since the incident occurred on Highway 4, this required California Highway Patrol to respond. Meanwhile, East Contra Costa Fire protection District and American Medical Response both staged in the parking lot near Party City, Home Goods, and Trucks Training.
The man was eventually talked down and taken into custody where I was told that he was fully cooperative with authorities. Upon being treated by AMR on scene, the man appeared to be in a better state of mind. He was later transported to a local hospital via ambulance.
Great job to all the crews on scene to prevent a very bad thing from occurring. Here are a few photographs form the parking lot.

What’s up with the photo quality lately? Your past few articles have had really bad/blurry quality images… Kinda strange since they used to be really good! Just wondering.
I agree… its this software in the back end… I’ll be upping the mega pixel going forward.
Just as well… Wouldn’t be appropriate to see too much more clarity in these pics. I am certain the young man will appreciate it in the long run. You do a fine job, in my opinion.
I totally agree with you Barbara..
