Brentwood: Seven Displaced After Two-Alarm Fire Damages Multiple Units

At 11:39 pm Friday, firefighters responded to a two-alarm residential fire on Sycamore Ave in Brentwood which displaced seven people.

Units arrived to find heavy fire near the rear of a building with an exterior fire which extended into the attic. A second alarm was immediately requested as all occupants were reported out of the structure.

The fire was ultimately brought under control after an offensive attack with heavy fire damage to one apartment unit and moderate to heavy water damage in three additional units. The sprinklers were activated during this incident.

The fire required seventeen East Contra Costa Fire Protection District firefighters and ten Contra Costa County Fire Protection District firefighters.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time, however, its probable the fire originated on the rear of an apartment and extended into an attic space through roof vents. No estimated monetary loss has been determined at this time.
