Brentwood Police Say Dispute in Safeway Parking Lot Leads to Firearm Recovery

The Brentwood Police Department is reporting that on January 31 at 5:00 am, officers were dispatched to Safeway on Second Street for a report of a male possibly being chased in the parking lot.

Officers arrived on scene and located a male victim who stated a man had pointed a firearm at him from his vehicle during a dispute.

Police say during the investigation, the victim saw the suspect vehicle drive near the scene and park at a local business. Officers conducted a stop on the suspect vehicle and identified the driver as Steven Knotts ( 51 year old Brentwood resident).

A search of the vehicle yielded a replica “BB” gun and a loaded .357 revolver. Knotts was charged with assault with a firearm, felon in possession of a firearm, concealing a firearm and carrying a loaded firearm.

No further information was released.
