Engine 94 (Knigthsen) arrived on scene of a T-bone accident involving a Brentwood Police car and both patients were out of their vehicle.

According to radio traffic, the Brentwood Police officer immediately requested help, but later stated units could reduce their response to Code 2. Firefighters on scene then evaluated the officer who was then complaining of shortness of breath and having trouble breathing.

The officer was airlifted to a local hospital while the second patient was ground transported to another hospital.

The ECCFPD said the police vehicle was totaled while the second vehicle sustained significant front end damage.

No further information is available as the incident is under investigation with the Oakley Police Department.

I heard this live over the scanner last night. The officer’s 11-99 request was heart breaking. He sounded really hurt. Additionally, It was very brave and considerate of him to downgrade to call call to code 2. I really appreciate what officers do by risking their lives everyday for us. I appreciate what they do so my family and I are safer everyday and night.

On another note, Antioch’s string of armed robberies last night was insane. Antioch truly needs help.

First and foremost, glad the officer is gonna be ok..!!!

Calling an 11-99 in that situation is a bit ridiculous in the first place….when that is called on the radio it will draw police officer assistance from 25+ miles away to respond…you will have 50 police cars there with lights and sirens going in minutes. That’s great for a gun battle and suspects are outstanding…..a mere traffic accident appears a bit overkill. 11-99 is used in the most desperate of situations and emergencies. I’m sure requesting C3 cover plus medical would have been more than sufficient .

What ever happened at least our emergency people are OK. Living in Antioch is not the same as it use to be.

I’m glad officer is okay. When I lived in Brentwood, I always remember watching police officers fly through intersections running red lights all the time. I’m not sure if this is the case with this incident, thank goodness the officer is Alive.
