Brentwood Police Clarify Rockin’ Jump Pepper Spray Incident

by ECT

BRENTWOOD, CA – On March 4, 2016 at about 9:30 pm, Brentwood Police Officers responded to Rockin’ Jump located at 5641 Lone Tree Way for a report of several juveniles that had been sprayed with pepper spray.

According to Lt. Tim Herbert, when officers arrived, they found about 200 to 300 juveniles near the entrances to the business. Officers later determined that there were 2 juveniles who had been sprayed with pepper spray by a suspect described as an African American female in her early 20’s.

It was reported that 6 employees and other customers received incidental exposure. The victims who complained of pain as of result of the pepper spray were treated by AMR and released at the scene.

Lt. Herbert says a 15 year old male was taken into custody for trespassing and later released to his parent. This subject was not related to the pepper spray incident.

The female involved with the pepper spray, as well as a possible second suspect, have not yet been identified or arrested by Police and police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspects.

The Brentwood Police Department is currently investigating the incident and anyone with information is encouraged to contact Officer Amiri at 925-634-6911.

The above information was provided by the Brentwood Police Department in the form of a press release.

Editors Note:

The following was published by Brentwood Rockin’ Jump regarding the incident which claimed a mother came into the business to settle a score with her daughters rival and pepper sprayed her at the front desk.

Here is what was published on their Facebook Page:

Brentwood-Rockin-JumpUnfortunately, you may have heard that we had to call the police and close down early tonight. At Rockin’ Jump, we take safety seriously; and to keep the park safe on Teen Night we have added three security guards in addition to our regular staff.

The kids were all well behaved, but it appears that a mother decided it would be a good idea to settle her daughters dispute with a neighborhood rival tonight.

The mother learned that her daughter’s rival was coming to RJ for our Friday teen event, waited for the girl to arrive and pepper sprayed her at our front desk.

Our security team stopped the mother within seconds, but the pepper spray smell was so strong that we felt it was safest for all to clear the building.

We are saddened that a parent’s behavior ruined the evening for everyone, and everyone was given a certificate for free jump time.

While we do our best to provide a safe fun environment for kids, we never thought we had to police the parents. We trusted the parents in this community to use common sense and provide a good example for their children. Unfortunately, we have learned that this is not the case; and we will no longer be able to offer a teen experience on Fridays.

For the foreseeable future, we will remain open on Friday night, but we will no longer have a DJ and it will be open to all ages.

We thank you for your continue support.

This version of the story is much different by brentwood police than the business owner. Who is right?

How can Rockin Jump say the family was banned for life if BPD has no clue who the suspect was? Someone is full of it.

I agree Bill. And is there normally 200-300 “teen” at this event? So it wasn’t a mother who did the pepper spraying? I’m confused. I think it’s a shame that bad apples in the crowd ruin a good time out for other teens. However, if they are pulling that many teens, did they have enough security and employee’s working?

Good decision for a while.

DJ’s and teens in this part of the county is trouble. RJ should consider a DJ night membership and a lottery draw with email invite tickets. The invite can direct additional friends to request an invite from RJ so friends (could be member who did not make the draw) can join member invitee. You will gain enough personal information to ID trouble makers and control entrance at the door.

Just because the Brentwood PD have no idea who she is doesn’t mean the business doesn’t. What if she was a regular customer? It’s hard to believe either version, but common sense says businesses know who their customers are. Whether they’re regulars, or they paid by credit or debit card… they know who their customers are unless you pay cash everywhere you go.

Such a shame that decent people who just want to enjoy an evening of fun has it spoiled by trashy violent folks, Is there any place decent people can go and feel safe?

@SMH yea it’s called the East Bay Parks, together they’re larger than the size of Rhode Island. Weeds out gangsters, thugs, but also fat and lazy people as well.

@JAH, it’s a relief that there are tolerant people such as yourself around. Give yourself a big hug. Signed; a fat person.
