On Monday at roughly 8:30 am, East Contra Costa firefighters responded to a report of a vehicle accident that required extrication from an ATV Type Vehicle.

According to the District, Engine 59 arrived on scene to find a six-wheel TV that was on its side with a juvenile patient trapped under the vehicle on Fischer Ave and Eden Plains Road on the border of rural Brentwood and Knightsen

The patient was rescued and transported by AMR to a medical helicopter who then transported to UC Davis with lower extremity injuries.

My neighbor and myself were first at the scene called 911 and it took the Fire Department 22 minutes to arrive to this accident! VERY sad people did NOT vote to keep our Fire Departments OPEN……. Big mistake as this could have been much worse! I do not think people realize what danger we could all be in especially in the Knighsen Area!

Yes 22 minutes is not acceptable. Those that voted on the recent assesment decided that for the most part $100 a year is not acceptable. I believe a $100 year is a small amount for such a critical issue. I voted yes. Shame on those that voted no. Please explaine to me that a childs life is not worth about $100 a year even though it is not your own. Lets look at it this way in the context of $10 a month. Maybe if we spent less than $3 x 3 at starbuck a month, $3 x 3 less for a Bic Mac a month, $3 x 3 less beers a month. You know what I mean. We could have a California standard Fire Dept response with a Firefighter/Paramecic on all first resonders (Fire District). I don’t know if East Contra County has lack of voters or a Tea Party mentalily. All I know is a childs life is worth more than $100 a year. Period.
