Brentwood Home Saved After BBQ Fire Scare

by ECT

A Brentwood home on Camden Court had a close call Monday evening as the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District responded to a residential fire that threatened a home from a reported BBQ fire which ended up catching some nearby plants fire. The fire then proceeded to run up the side of the home and potentially got into the attic.  Crews on scene credited the homeowner’s quick actions as the reason for likely saving the home from severe damage.

The fire was reported at 5:15 pm and crews were on scene for just over 2 hours as a precaution to  ensure the fire did not spread.  Unfortunately, crews did have to use a chainsaw to cut into the home as part of the precaution. The Brentwood Police Department was on scene for traffic control and kept cars out of the court.

This serves as a reminder that when one is on the grill, take safety precautions by ensuring the flames do not get to big or that nearby vegetation can catch fire .  It’s also important to have the grill a safe distance from the home.

Here are a few pictures of the crews in the front yard.
