Brentwood: Heritage High School Says May 1 Threat Against School is “Invalid” Rumor

On Tuesday, parents of Heritage High School students were sent out an email alerting them that rumors on campus about a threat to the school set for May 1. Both police and school staff say they are invalid.

According to an email:

Many of have heard rumors regarding May 1st. The school administration is aware of the rumors, we have worked along side the Brentwood Police Department in the investigation. We have concluded that there is no credible threat to the school. We will conduct our regular activities and school schedule as normal on Friday, May 1st. Thank you and have a great day.

On Wednesday, Heritage High School Principal Larry Oshodi clarified that the rumor was about a possible shooting at the school scheduled for May 1.

“The rumor is about a possible shooting at school on May 1. We (and the Brentwood Police Department) are aware of the source of the rumor and also know that the individual is in no place to be a threat to our school. The notification yesterday was to inform parents that the rumor is invalid.”

Oshodi says the school will conduct regular activities and be on a normal school schedule on Friday.

According to a statement issued by Brentwood Police Lt. Sal Dimercurio, they have investigated this rumor in great detail with their school resource officer and believe the rumor to be false They even made contact with a subject to determine the credibility but would not elaborate further.

Lt. Dimercurio stated that on Friday, police will be on campus to ensure parents feel comfortable and the learning environment will not be disrupted.

No further information was provided by either Principal Oshodi or Brentwood Police.
