Brentwood: Fire Destroys Two Homes on Almond Street

by ECT

At 4:20 am Thursday, East Contra Costa Fire Protection District firefighters battled a residential structure fire that destroyed two homes on Almond St.

Engine 94 (Knightsen) was dispatched to a report of a mattress fire on the side of a home at 2 Almond St off Brentwood Blvd when Brentwood Police arrived and said it was an actual structure fire. The call was then upgraded to a full structure response.

With wind, the fire caught debris between two homes and eventually caught a second home on fire because firefighters were limited on access due to down power lines and were forced into defensive fire attack.
