A man remains in critical condition as of 3:00 pm Wednesday after three men entered his home and beat both he and his wife with a baseball bat.
Brentwood Police did not release many details about the attack because its still under investigation, however, they did say three men entered the home on Dill Court through a rear door and first attacked the wife who was sleeping on the couch just before 4:00 am.
The three men, described as two Hispanic males and one African American male, made their way to the master bedroom and began beating the man who was sleep with a baseball bat.
The suspects ages were not released.
According to Brentwood Police Lieutenant Doug Silva, they are still trying to find a motive for the attack which he says does not appear random because it was not a traditional home invasion robbery and nothing was stolen from the home.
“I want the community to know this appears as though it was not a random attack and that it appears targeted,” said Silva.
He offered no other details other than an Antioch Police K9 was called and per the K9, it led police officers down a trail along the railroad tracks.
Update:
In a Press Release at 4:45pm, Brentwood Police identified the victims as Ann Russo who was treated for a blunt force trauma and is in stable condition. The second victim is John Russo who was treated for a blunt force trauma and is in critical condition.

At 4:05 AM Wednesday, Brentwood Police responded to a report of a break in where two people were assaulted and injured.
According to the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District, the incident occurred in the 1600 block of Dill Court where a husband and wife were assaulted inside their home with a weapon and needed immediate medical attention.
Both victims were transported to John Muir Medical Center. While en route to John Muir Hospital via AMR ground transport, one victim was diverted to Sutter Delta in Antioch for a medical helicopter transport after his condition worsened but they would not elaborate further. No further details were released by the fire district.
Brentwood Police have not released any information as they are still investigating the incident but are expected to later this morning.
