Brentwood: Citizen Shoots “Aggressive” Dog, Female Injured During Attack

On September 29 at approximately 11:00 am, the Brentwood Police Officers responded to 500 block of McIntosh Terrace for a report of a female screaming for help and dogs barking.

Upon arrival officers discovered that two dogs that are owned by the homeowner were fighting. The 60 year old homeowner attempted to separate the dogs and was bitten.

Fearing that the aggressive dog would kill the other dog the homeowner screamed for help.

A citizen, who had armed himself with a gun, came to her aid. The citizen seeing that the aggressive dog had the other dog by the throat shot the aggressive dog twice. After shooting the aggressive dog the attack stopped and the dogs separated.

Animal Control and Brentwood Police Officers arrived on scene and were able to capture the aggressive dog.

The homeowner sought medical attention on her own for her injuries related to the dog bite, one dog was transported to the veterinarian, and the aggressive dog remains with animal control.

According to Brentwood Police, the two dogs involved were a pit bull and border collie.
