by ECT

At 9:07 am Tuesday, the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District responded to Starbucks Coffee at Brentwood Boulevard and Balfour Road for a report of a child burn victim.

According to an initial report, a 2-year-old had hot coffee spilled onto them and sustained burns to both the face and arms.

Brentwood Police initially requested code 2 response, but was later upgraded to code 3. Upon arrival, it was determined that the child would be transported by air ambulance to UC Davis Burn Center.

According to Jeff Burris, Battalion Chief with East Contra Costa Fire, its unclear how the hot drink spilled onto the child, but did say the burns were legitimate enough for the child to be taken to UC Davis.
