Brentwood: 2 Teens Airlifted by Medical Helicopter, 2 Others Injured After Striking Parked Car

by ECT

At 3:39 pm Tuesday, four teens were injured after striking a parked car on Sycamore Ave near Brentwood Blvd in the City of Bentwood.

The roadway was shutdown as fire crews requested a total of four AMR units and ordered two medical helicopters to transport two of the teenagers who sustained injuries in the crash.

The helicopters landed at Heron Park off Garin Parkway.

According to East Contra Costa Fire Protection District Battalion Chief Jeff Burris, none of the teens were wearing their seat belt at the time of the crash. The vehicle was traveling westbound when it struck an unoccupied pickup truck.

Crews were on scene for nearly 2-hours.

No further details were available and Brentwood Police are investigating the crash.

Damn it!!! here we go again with the no seat belt deal. Such a simple solution. Hope the teens do well but I don’t have a good feeling on this one.

I agree. Over and over we read NO SEAT Belt.

Their parents fail them ?? Feb 13, 2018 - 7:15 pm

Teens being teens. Either dumb, lazy, we could go on and on. Hope they’ve learned a lesson and get better soon.

Anyone who refuses to use a seat belt is lazy and irresponsible. With or without a seat belt, these kids need to learn how to drive.

Update. My cousins are okay. Everything is okay. There okay thank god.

Melanie Feb 13, 2018 - 9:16 pm

I’m glad your cousins are okay. Please tell them to buckle up.

Unless you know the story you really shouldn’t speak on it. The accident was caused by someone else who was not a passanger in the vehicle. The important thing is, that they are okay. So ignorant comments are not necessary.

Facts state none of the teens were wearing seat belts.

Parents … WAKE UP! Even your kids must buckle up. Your family was lucky this time.

Please people know what you are talking about before criticizing. Wheather they were wearing seat belts or not doesn’t mean they deserve to be injured. This accident was caused by another person that was not a passanger in the vehicle. Smart ass comments are not needed.

Because many times crashes are caused by OTHER drivers, if you want to survive you absolutely need to take steps to protect your physical self from what may happen. Whether you are passenger or driver is not the issue. Safety of life and limb is the issue.

EBJ Feb 14, 2018 - 1:15 pm

So, just because the crash was caused by another driver means you let all caution-to-the-wind and ride without protecting yourself from a sudden impact? Get real! What do people use for brains these days?

Nobody said they deserved to be injured. They might have said it was B.S., lazy, stupid etc. that they weren’t wearing their seat belt and get well soon, but never that those girls deserved it. Their injuries probably came about because they bounced around a car in the crash (no seatbelt), and everybody would probably agree that fact is the biggest shame of it all. Stop being a narcissist and realize the resources involved for this tragic event, that could have been minimal (and injuries reduced) had seat belts been worn. Thank goodness it wasn’t worse.

To all…Yes they are doing ok. One is my son and we as parents give our kids the tools they need to become successful but what they do with it may not be as expected. If you have children you know what I’m saying. We did not fail as parents and I’ll continue to raise my children in the best manner hopefully teens will start to listen. I love you all and will pray for speedy recovery.

Simonpure Feb 14, 2018 - 10:28 am

Thanks Ruby…I didn’t have a good feeling about the outcome. So happy for you and your family. I too have children and yes…all one can do is educate and hope for the best.

Y’all can blabber all you want. Seat belts suck.

Well, then we will be ready to attend your funeral — let us know where you have made arrangements.

Frank Feb 14, 2018 - 9:06 am

Motivation for a trailer hitch. That truck took no damage compared to their car.

PattyOfurniture Feb 14, 2018 - 4:11 pm

Facts are facts, it’s statistically proven. Your potential for injury is greatly increased by not wearing your seat belt- exponentially in a rollover. That’s why it’s the LAW. Defending not wearing belts only shows naivety. Know Your Facts had me, because right away I thought Snapchat; but they are right I don’t know the facts. Regardless, I’m glad the girls are not too seriously injured. Get well soon all; no family wants to deal with something like this.

Agian shut up with your ignorance. No one said it was okay for them not to have seat belts on. What do you use for a brain? You never have made a dumb mistake right? The report only gave what it wanted you do know. This situation could have been avoided.

But did you also not read what one mother wrote. She has given her child the tools. So all should stop judging and not put blame on the parents but where it should be. On the person who caused it.

If you don’t like it, quit reading anonymous comments on the internet. We’re not here to please you or anyone else.

A Feb 14, 2018 - 9:47 pm

Um first of all they’re guys not girls the driver is my brother and my parents did not have anything to do with this my parents punish them and show them what is right and what is wrong and my parents were working every every hard this day and the amount of stress that came upon us is unbelievable so before anyone starts to say anything about my parents step 2 steps back please yes my brother was responsible and he made a terrible decision but everything happens for a reason and they had injuries and they know their mistakes and I’m not too happy about it myself but no one should be judging or saying anything if you do not know the real story

Good thing I don’t have to stop reading anything Nick. This is a free country and I can say, and read what I want. You not knowing facts and speaking on something you know nothing about, again makes you the ignorant one. But hey again it’s a free country and some of us chose to stay ignorant. Have a wonderful and blessed day!

Melanie Feb 15, 2018 - 8:54 am

Quit whining. We can say anything we want too. Hypocrite.

Terry Poff Feb 16, 2018 - 6:33 am

“You don’t know the facts. But I won’t state he facts to reveal clarity, so you don’t know the facts”. Was he distracted or? What are the “facts”? The fact we do kmow is that he could have killed or seriously injured someone in the community.

FACT: 4 people were in a car.

FACT: the car was being driven on a road.

FACT: the car struck a vehicle that was unoccupied.

FACT: the 4 people in the moving vehicle were not wearing their seat belts.

FACT: the 4 people suffered varying degrees of injury.

FACT: 2 of the 4 were airlifted to hospital.

FACT: many of the comments here are the judgemental and ignorant opinions of mean-spirited, insensitive, holier-than-thou jerks that need to go back to kindergarten and relearn something they have completely forgotten…

IF YOU DON’T HAVE ANYTHING NICE TO SAY ABOUT SOMEONE THEN DON’T SAY ANYTHING AT ALL.

Or, as I like to say…

SHUT YOUR PIE HOLE!!

This concludes my lesson to the aforementioned idiots.
